Why Field Labels in Question Form Are Better

What goes through your mind when someone asks you a question compared to someone stating a word? Chances are you’re thinking more about the question than the word.

When form fields use question labels, users think more about their data input. Questions engage users more than a single word label. Humans are social creatures that are conditioned to answer questions in everyday conversation. As such, question labels are more likely to trigger a response and get users thinking.

The more users think about their data input, the less likely they’ll enter the incorrect data. Not only that, but they’re also more likely to fill out each field instead of skipping them. Skipping a field would mean they’re refusing to answer a question. Since most users want to progress on the form, they know that their refusal could prevent them from continuing.
