Collection Carousel: A Mobile Pattern to End Swipe Errors

Carousels are a great way to increase user engagement. They allow users to browse content casually without unnecessary page loads and back-and-forth navigation. However, using the same desktop carousel design on mobile screens causes usability issues.

Swipe errors are common when users try to swipe a mobile carousel. If they swipe from the edges of the screen, they can accidentally navigate back to the previous page. On browsers, swiping from the edges is a gesture that triggers the back button. On some mobile devices, swiping from the lower screen edge will switch applications.
