Win 5 Free Licenses from LucidChart
by David Grow on 04/12/11 at 9:43 am

[Note: This giveaway is over!]
LucidChart has offered to give away 5 Professional licenses (each worth $99.95/year) to UX Movement readers for free. LucidChart is a HTML5 diagramming application you can use to create website wireframes, iPhone mockups, site maps and more right in your browser. With LucidChart’s real-time collaboration, it’s easy to work together with team members or invite your client for a quick demo.
Create an interactive prototype and collaborate with clients.
Through an intuitive system of ‘hot spots’ and ‘states,’ designers can go from a static wireframe to a prototype that show the interactions that will take place on a website. This helps designers improve the user experience and helps clients effectively visualize the result through the demo mode.
When working on a document, the owner can invite others to collaborate and set permissions for each collaborator – own, edit or view. As others make edits to the document, these changes merge and sync in real-time with group chat making it easy to communicate.
Mockup your iPhone application
With mobile becoming an increasingly important channel for designers, LucidChart provides templates and common elements for iPhone mockups. Similar to a website wireframe, adding ‘hot spots’ and ‘states’ inserts interactivity and brings the mockup closer to reality.

Only web application with Microsoft Visio import
In the past, Microsoft Visio has been the default tool for many designers. This often resulted in e-mail overload as iteration after iteration goes back and forth to the client. With LucidChart’s most recent release, designers can now import these documents from Visio and transition entirely to the cloud.
5 licenses up for grabs
All you have to do to win is post a comment below and tell us why you would like to win this wireframing software. We’ll choose five winners randomly from the comments. So leave your name, e-mail and comment for the chance to win!

Visio has been my tool of choice for quite some time and now I am experimenting with Axure so I wouldn’t mind giving Lucid a decent go because their free version lacks in some areas.

I am 22, a UK graduate, had my first job with a UK based tech start-up over Winter. This placement gave me a taste for UX design, and I want to develop some skills.
BUT, all this software is VERY expensive so trying to learn this skills is getting pretty limited from software trials ending!
Getting a LucidChart license would help me get involved in the UX community

Our UX team is looking for a new prototyping tool that fits our needs. Non of the tools we’ve used so far, is the perfect tool. All of our interaction design specification are in Visio. The documents are hard to read. Marketing people do not understand how the document is set up. We need a tool that communicates design effectively and would like to try LucidChart.

I already have a Pro account so I’m not entering to win but will throw in my two cents…
Having used Omnigraffle for years, I can say that LucidChart is very Omnigraffle-esque meaning that it’s sleek and just makes sense. And then it’s got all the perks of being online. Love it and recommend it – good luck to everyone else.

I’m starting to work as a freelance webdesigner. I have made a few websites without wireframing software. Since my last project I’m thinking to try one. It could improve the workflow with the client.
Thanks.

Use MS Visio at work for all my wireframing needs. Starting to do work on my own @ home and MS Visio professional is ridiculously expensive since I can’t use my work laptop for personal use. Would like to try the full version of Lucid out after trying the free version for a few days.

Our software team has been using Axure for all wireframing and concepting for the past two years. Since many of our devs are remote, we would love to find a replacement collaboration tool that can be shared and edited regardless of your location. Our UI team also lacks a solid way to wireframe mobile apps. LucidCharts sounds great!
