Win 3 Free Licenses from Visual Website Optimizer
by Paras Choopra on 05/09/11 at 9:14 am
Visual Website Optimizer is proud to offer 3 free annual licenses of Visual Website Optimizer (worth $588 each) to UX Movement readers for free.

Visual Website Optimizer is an A/B testing tool that allows you to easily create and test different versions of your website landing page on incoming visitors. After inserting a small code snippet on a page, you can start showing the different versions randomly to website visitors. For example, if you have two versions of a webpage, version A and B, 50% visitors will see version A and other 50% will see version B. This allows you to see which version has a higher conversion rate or generates more revenue.
Over 7500 businesses and people use Visual Website Optimizer worldwide. These include big brands such as Microsoft, Groupon, FourSquare, 99Designs, Rackspace and etc. The tool provides an easy to use WYSIWYG editor for creating different versions of a website. It’s a drag-and-drop tool where you can select, edit, hide, remove, move and resize different elements on the page (headlines, images, forms, tables, etc.). Have a look at the two-minute video below to see just how easy you can create an A/B test.
Powerful A/B Testing Tool
The tool is full of features which will get you hooked to A/B testing. Here are some of the notable features:
- Multiple Test Options - A/B testing, multivariate testing and split URL testing.
- Multiple Conversion Goals - visits to a page, clicks on a link, form submissions, user engagement, etc.
- Heatmaps / Clickmaps - see which parts of page get the most clicks.
- Revenue Tracking - see which version of your website landing page generates maximum revenue (not just maximum conversions).
- Segmentation and Behavioral Targeting - show different versions to different visitors based on their search, referral URL, ad campaign, OS/Browser and many other variables.
- Full support for HTML/CSS/Javascript/jQuery editing - you are not limited to WYSIWYG editor; you can use the tool’s advanced mode to make advanced changes
- Google Analytics Integration
- Plugins for WordPress, Drupal and Joomla
There are tons of other features. See the complete feature list to get a better idea.
Case Studies
Visual Website Optimizer has 20+ elaborate A/B testing case studies on its website. You will be surprised to know how even little changes can have a huge impact on sales and conversions. The following are some of the most interesting case studies:
- Hyundai increases leads by 62% – by doing a multivariate test, they added a new button, larger car image and changed their text description.
- Human photos double conversion rate – their A/B test revealed that adding human photos on a page increased conversion rate by 100%
- Vendio, an Alibaba company, increased form signups by 60% – by removing the signup form, they increased their conversion rate.

There are many more real case studies on the website which prove just how useful the tool is for increasing sales and conversions. Every case study has screenshots of variations tested, so we are sure you are going to learn a lot from them, and use the ideas there to do A/B testing on your own website landing page.

I just created my account, I’d really like to win the subscription. I used Google Website Optimizer with a multivariate test, but I am still working on improving my conversions (now to about 9%).

I tried the Wingify / Visual Web Optimizer tool (http://visualwebsiteoptimizer.com/) for A/B Testing and found it was very simple to setup. It is free for first 30 days with all features after which there is a minimum monthly cost of $49 depending on the test complexity and sample size. This 3 minute video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s98EEV4uYN8) explains how to setup a A/B test. It simple requires us to enter the website URL after which it assigns the current design as the ‘Control’ case for A/B Testing. We can easily edit/move visual elements on the website by a simple click to create various Test Cases. The next step involves defining the button or link on which a click should be considered a conversion. The last step involves adding a javascript snippet to the webpage on which the test has been defined and testing to see whether it has been added successfully.
Have been recommending this tool to all my clients ever since i discovered it, sadly my trial period expired a few days ago. Could really use the free licence to train my clients during presentations.

I work and am responsible for running a number of mainstream partner retail sites and this tool is in my opinion streaks ahead in terms of value for money and ease of use compared to the big players such as Maxymiser and Autonomy.

Hey Paras, have been following you guys since you first started posting on HN
Cool to watch you grow!!
My wife and I own a hair salon in NYC and we’re faced with the unique problem that all of our traffic online has to be converted into ‘offline’ traffic in our salon! So we are working on a new design (http://bloombeautylounge.com/testsite) and will need to rapidly test and prototype different ways to convert our online visitors to convince them to come into the salon… and then figure out a good way to track them!! The best way to do this, IMO, is to use Visual Website optimizer and a/b test the crap out of our tracking ideas
Keep up the good work!

Our company is planning on creating a testing culture for all of our clients so having a product that lets people with a no coding background perform tests is key to this environment.

Visual Website Optimizer looks like a really excellent testing tool I can use to optimize conversion on the landing page I’ll be creating for a product I’m developing.
I especially like the case studies the site provides – they’re a great help in determining how I’ll proceed with my own testing and conversion optimization.
